Fried, Oily and Fatty Foods can cause Acne

There is no scientific basis for this belief. However certain foods that have high calcium content may worse, but not cause acne

The best possible way to get rid of pimples is to squeeze them out

Such action could only aggravate the condition. Also, popping or squeezing the pimples out can eventually lead to the formation of scars, which in grave cases, can be permanent.

Adult's do not get Acne

Studies have found that adults are getting acne into their 30s and 40s. Adult acne may look different. It’s more likely to be reddish nodules around mouth & jaw, rather than whiteheads and blockheads.

You just have to wait and let Acne Go away with time

Acne is a treatable condition. There is no need to wait for the skin to clear up on its own. The longer you wait, the more likely your chances are of permanent scarring. If you're an Adult with Acne just go to the cosmetic counter and get a good face cream or cleanser. People will go to the store and get advise from person behind the counter who's selling products. But what Dermatologists can do for acne is much more than these over the counter products.

Everyone outgrows Acne

Acne is most prevalent in teenagers. It also affects men and women into adulthood. Some do outgrow acne. But for others, acne may be lifelong. Don't wait for acne to disappear on it's own. Treat it.

Acne is just a cosmetic Disease

Acne can have lasting consequence in how you feel about yourself. If left untreated or unmanaged, it can leave permanent scars.

Acne affects teenage boys at a higher rate than girls because of the production of male hormone Androgen. However this figures even out in adulthood.

Spot Treatments will cure Acne

Remember that pimples starts forming weeks before you are aware of its existence. Instead of spot treatments, it's wise to preventively treat all acne prone skin on a daily basis.

Teens are the only ones affected by Acne

Acne affects adults as well. The circumstances are slightly different from that of teens, particularly for women. Women between 18 to 40 years may have breakouts when they are permanent.

Acne is contagious

Acne is non-communicable disease. Even if you wave your hands over someone with worst case of Acne you've ever seen. you will not get any pimples as a result.

Acne is caused by eating Greasy foods, Chocolate or Caffine

Studies have found that diet including pizza, chocolate and French fries rarely affects Acne. However if some foods consistently make you break out with Acne, it's better to avoid it.

Sunscreen Causes Acne

A good non-comedogenic sunscreen will not cause acne. However a heavy occlusive sunscreen will cause flaring. Inflammation leads to several small red bumps. This reaction is not true acne but a condition called miliaria.

Acne is Seasonal

Some people claim their acne is seasonal, worse, perhaps in summer. While temperature & humidity may increase oil production of skin, for most there aren't seasons for Acne.

Acne is caused by Oily Skin

It's often common to have both dry skin and acne. You can also have oily skin without acne. Pores will become plugged and acne will form whether your skin is dry or oily.

Acne is just a little problem. Don't overreact. Stop worrying about it.

Almost everyone who has Acne is embarrassed by it. Acne not only lower self-esteem. It often affects social behavior.
